Cuban delegation to United Nations Youth Forum meets with President of ECOSOC.

Ambassador Lachezara Stoeva, president of UN  Economic and Social Council welcomed the Cuban delegation to the Youth Forum 2023, composed by Mirthia Brossard, head of the Department of International Relations at the National Committe of Communist Youth League, and Keyla Estévez, head of the Center of Studies on Youth.

Cuba reiterates support to an urgent and broad reform of UN Security Council

Cuba called for an urgent, broad reform of UN Security Council to have a more representative, democratic and transparent body as demanded by the international community. During his remarks at the debate on the use of veto,  Deputy Permanent Representative, Yuri Gala Lopez, recalled the considerations issued by Cuba during adoption of resolution of 2022 which gave origin to the present debate.

The Group reaffirms our commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and human rights, including freedom of expression and access to information, as well as the principles of independence, pluralism, and diversity of the media, and urges the Department of Global Communications to further strengthen partnerships with new and traditional media in this regard.

Group 77 and China highlights support of United Nations Office for Project Services.

Cuba praised the work and support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to developing countries and to the management of the Secretariat of the G77 and China. The above mentioned was expressed by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, acting as Chair of the G77 and China, during meeting with Mr. Jens Wandel, executive director a.i. of UNOPS.
