Cuba to boost cooperation among South countries

From its chairmanship of the Group of 77 and China, Cuba has committted to boost projects for cooperation that come along the strategies for development of the South countries. The above was ratified by Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba, Debora Rivas, during the Latin America and Caribbean Economic Council sixth meeting on sustainable development celebrated in Chile.

Cuba reiterates support to an urgent and broad reform of UN Security Council

Cuba called for an urgent and broad reform of the United Nations Security Council to have a more representative, democratic and transparent body as it is demanded by the international community. During his remarks at the debate on the use of veto at the UN General Assembly,  Deputy Permanent Representative, Yuri Gala Lopez, recalled the considerations issued by the Cuban delegation during the adoption of the resolution of 2022 which gave origin to the present debate.

Cuban delegation to United Nations Youth Forum meets with President of ECOSOC.

Ambassador Lachezara Stoeva, president of United Nations Economic and Social Council welcomed the Cuban delegation to the Youth Forum 2023. The Cuban delegation is composed by Mirthia Brossard, head of the Department of International Relations of the National Committe of Communist Youth League, and Keyla Estévez, head of the Center of Studies on Youth, both organizations from Cuban civil society with consultative status with ECOSOC.

Statement by Gerardo Peñalver Portal, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, during the 45th period of sessions of the Committee on Information.

The Group reaffirms our commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and human rights, including freedom of expression and access to information, as well as the principles of independence, pluralism, and diversity of the media, and urges the Department of Global Communications to further strengthen partnerships with new and traditional media in this regard.

Group 77 and China highlights support of United Nations Office for Project Services.

New York,  April 13th, 2023.-  Cuba praised the work and support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to developing countries and to the management of the Secretariat of the Group of the 77 and China.

The above mentioned was expressed by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, acting as Chair of the Group of the 77 and China, during meeting with Mr. Jens Wandel, executive director a.i. of UNOPS.
