Cuban Ambassador attends UNISON South West Regional Council meetings

On 24 and 25 February, the Cuban Ambassador to the UK, Her Excellency Ismara Vargas Walter, attended a series of important events in Exeter organised by UNISON South West and the Cuba Solidarity Campaign. These events aimed to strengthen solidarity between the UK and Cuba by bringing together trade union leaders, regional councillors and members of the public.

The Ambassador's visit began with a fringe meeting and reception. The meeting was attended by the UNISON South West Regional Executive Committee, the Regional Secretary and around 50 people.

The 20th edition of the Latin American Conference 2025 took place on 8 February at the Hamilton House in London, the headquarters of the National Education Union (NEU), where academics, trade unionists, politicians and activists exchanged views and ideas during the 20th edition of the conference. In this great event, the main challenges facing Latin America were debated, with an outstanding participation of Cuba, where its unwavering commitment to the defence of oppressed peoples and regional integration was highlighted, receiving wide support, especially among the young audience.
