Cuban Foreign Minister continues work program in New York

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, continued his work program in New York, participating in the Summit of the Future that takes place at the headquarters of the United Nations. In addition, he took part today in the Ministerial Meeting of the NAM Coordinating Bureau, under the central theme: “Protection of the civilian population in armed conflicts: solidarity with the Palestinian people”.

New York, September 22, 2024 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, from the plenary session of the Summit of the Future, warned today about the need of the peoples for less interference and more solidarity; less unequal exchange and more equity; less politicization and double standards and more dialogue, cooperation and respect for their right to choose their political, economic and social system, as an essential condition to ensure peaceful coexistence.

Nearly 600 parliamentarians from 73 countries call on the United States to remove Cuba from the list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism”.

Nearly 600 parliamentarians from 73 countries around the world wrote a joint letter, coordinated and published by Progressive International (PI), in which they condemn the designation of Cuba by the United States as a “state sponsor of terrorism” as “cynical, cruel and a clear violation of international law”. In the letter, published today, Friday, September 20, the legislators call on their respective governments to “take immediate steps to advocate for the removal [of the designation].”

Thirty-five Former Presidents Ask Joe Biden to Remove Cuba from US Blacklist

Thirty-five ex-presidents of the world sent US President Joe Biden a letter asking him to remove Cuba from the US list of states sponsors of terrorism.

Colombia’s former president Ernesto Samper published the letter signed by former heads of state from Latin American, Caribbean, European, African and Asian countries.

In their letter, the former presidents ask Joe Biden to withdraw Cuba from the US blacklist before he concludes his term of office to relieve the current situation of millions of innocent people.

The U.S. blockade of Cuba and its extraterritorial effect

U.S. policy towards Cuba has had among its pillars, for more than six decades, the implementation of unilateral coercive economic measures. Although the fundamentals of this approach have varied somewhat over time, according to experts, the constant objective of the blockade policy has been to use the economic power of the US to undermine the Cuban socio-economic and political system and thus bring about a change of regime on the island.
