Condolences from Cuba to Zimbabwe on the death of Chen Chimutengwende

Harare, January 20, 2025- The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González Llort, sent a message of condolences to the family and friends of Chen Chimutengwende, renowned political and solidarity leader who passed away in the capital of Zimbabwe.

It is with great consternation that we received the sad news of the physical demise of our great friend and Patron of the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association (ZICUFA), the document reads.

Solidarity with Cuba: A Call for Justice and the End of the Blockade

Harare, January 20, 2025- Solidarity with Cuba, the call for justice and an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba are the focus of today's publication of The Pan Afrikanist, a center for the restoration of African dignity.

While the removal of Cuba from the State Department's list of so-called sponsors of terrorism, the suspension of lawsuits under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act and the lifting of restrictions on certain financial transactions are a step in the right direction, they are but small cracks in the walls of an unjust and inhumane blockade.

Zimbabwean National Hero status for former Cuba solidarity leader

Harare, 18 January 2025 - Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has conferred National Hero status on Chenhamo Chakezha Chimutengwende, a former political leader and honorary holder of the Cuba Friendship Association.
Mnangagwa deemed the former Minister of Information, Posts and Telecommunications worthy of the high honour for his contribution to the country before and after national independence.

Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust in solidarity with Cuba

Harare, 18 January 2025- The Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust today reiterated its solidarity with the people of Cuba in facing the challenges of the prolonged economic blockade imposed by the United States. 
   We recognise that while steps have been taken to ease some sanctions, such as the removal of the unjust list of countries sponsoring terrorism, they fall short in addressing the fundamental rights and freedoms of Cubans, emphasises a statement released in this capital.

A Beacon of Pan-African Liberation: Honoring the Revolutionary Life of Cde Chenhamo Chakezha Chimutengwende

Harare, January 17 - The Pan-African and progressive world mourns the loss of a towering figure in the liberation and development of Zimbabwe and the African continent. Cde Chenhamo “Chen” Chakezha Chimutengwende, a steadfast revolutionary, dedicated statesman, and unyielding advocate for Pan-Africanism, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 81. His passing leaves a profound void in the global struggle for unity, dignity, and self-determination for African peoples.
