Cuba and Albania celebrate 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations.

December 15, 2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of Albania.

In 1992, the Cuban government decided to close the Cuban Embassy in Tirana, Albania, and from that date the diplomatic relations between Havana and Tirana started to be conducted at the level of Charge d'Affaires from the Cuban Embassy in Bulgaria.

In 2006, the Cuban Ambassador Mr. Gerardo Suárez Alvarez, was accredited as Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Albania, concurrent from Sofia, Bulgaria.

Diplomatic relations between Havana and Tirana have never been interrupted.

Along these years, the bilateral relations between Cuba and Albania have been characterized by friendship, respect, solidarity and cooperation.

On October 21, 2020, the Cuban Ambassador Caridad Yamira Cueto Milián, resident in Sofia, Bulgaria, was received in solemn audience of Presentation of Letter of Credences by H.E. Mr. Ilir Meta, President of the Republic of Albania.
