Cuban Ambassador presents credentials to the President of Cyprus.

Nicosia, July 7, 2022 - In a solemn ceremony held on July 7, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, Ambassador Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero presented to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Cyprus.

During the cordial meeting, the Cuban ambassador expressed to the Cypriot leader his willingness to work tirelessly to continue strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. In seeking opportunities to continue to bring closer, exchange views and opinions in an atmosphere of friendship and understanding, with the certainty that Cyprus and Cuba are friendly countries. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat thanked on behalf of his people and government for the unconditional support received from the Cypriot people and government in favor of the Resolution condemning and demanding the end of the unjust, criminal and genocidal Economic, Financial and Commercial Blockade against the Caribbean island.

On his part, the Cypriot President welcomed the Cuban diplomat to his country, while evoking the close historical ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on November 22, 1960. The Cypriot leader highlighted the excellent state of the existing bilateral relations and the interest of his government to continue strengthening them.

During the exchange, bilateral issues between the two countries were reviewed, during which the Cuban diplomat reiterated that Cuba has firmly defended and will continue to do so as a matter of principle, the right of Cypriots to have a nation that promotes values of coexistence, integration and hard work to achieve a peaceful future.
