It is with deep sorrow that I come before you to inform our people, and friends of Our America and the world, that today, November 25, at 10.29pm, Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz passed away. In accordance with his expressed wishes Compañero Fidel’s remains will be cremated. In the early hours of the morning of Saturday 26, the funeral organizing commission will provide our people with detailed information regarding the posthumous tributes which will be paid to the founder of the Cuban Revolution.

Through this message read by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Republic of Cuba, the Cuba people and the rest of the world knew about the demise of a global revolutionary and humanist, an eternal defender of the noble causes of the world, a dear friend and unforgettable brother.
Following the death of Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba declared nine days of National Mourning, to be observed from November 26th to December 4Th, 2016. Our national flag will be flown at half-mast in public buildings and military establishments. Radio stations and television channels will offer informative, patriotic and historic programming.
Furthermore, the Embassy wishes to inform that a condolences book will be opened during November 28th to December 4th, 2016. From Monday, November 28th to Saturday, December 3rd, said condolences book will be opened from 0900hrs to 1800hrs; on Sunday, December 4th, from 0900hrs to 1200hrs.
Likewise, the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica would like to convey its deep appreciation to the countless messages and support conveyed by the Government and people of Jamaica, a sister nation that was always in the heart and mind of our eternal Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
