Cuban ambassador attends reception offered by the Foreign Minister.

Wellington, December 11. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps by the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Right Honorable Winston Peters, at the Parliament headquarters.

On the occasion, the Foreign Minister presented the general lines of the new government in foreign policy and then exchanged with those present.

The Cuban ambassador, who already met Peters during his previous mandate, conveyed Cuba's greetings to him during a brief exchange.

Meeting with the speaker of Parliament.

Wellington, May 29. The ambassadors of Latin America and Spain had a friendly meeting with the Right Honorable Adrian Rurawhe, Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament.

We exchanged about the reality of our countries and the possibilities of increasing ties between our parliaments and people.

There was a broad exchange on the respective health systems and the Cuban system in particular. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés provided elements about Cuban medical cooperation in the world.

Cuban officials attend a reception offered by the Foreign Minister.

Wellington, May 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and his wife, Consul Dalila Vázquez, attended the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps by the Foreign Minister, Honorable Nanaia Mahuta.

At the event, held at Parliament House, Mahuta gave a useful update on New Zealand's foreign policy to those present.

On behalf of the diplomats, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E Ahmad Alwehaib, Ambassador of Kuwait, thanked her for the opportunity.

After the speeches, the head of New Zealand diplomacy exchanged informally with the attendees.

 

The soccer team of the Diplomatic Corps continues undefeated.

Wellington, April 23. The soccer team of the Diplomatic Corps, made up of diplomats and family members, under the direction of the Cuban ambassador, defeated the Hutt City Council team.

With this victory, they managed to keep the trophy obtained last year.

The friendly match was an excellent opportunity to share and promote the practice of sports among diplomats and local officials.

 

Cuban diplomats attend Iftar dinner.

Wellington, April 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez attended the Iftar dinner organized by the Heads of Mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation accredited in this city.

Both shared the table with the guest of honor and speaker on behalf of the New Zealand Government, Hon. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister of Diversity Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, and with the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E Ahmad Alwehaib, Ambassador of Kuwait.

It was an honor to accompany our colleagues in this important event in the month of Ramadan.

 

Former Disarmament Minister Matt Robson visits the Cuban Embassy.

Wellington, March 28. Former Disarmament Minister Matt Robson, an active member of solidarity with Cuba in New Zealand, visited the Cuban headquarters.

Robson shared his experiences on his recent trip to Cuba to participate in the event "For the Balance of the World" and spoke with the Ambassador about the impact of United States policy on the Cuban population.

Both commented on the international situation and future solidarity actions in favor of the right of Cubans to self-determination.

 

Cuban diplomats attend lunch with the Governor General.

Russell, February 5. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez attended a lunch hosted by the Governor General of New Zealand, H.E. The Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, and her husband Dr. Richard Davies, as part of the Waitangi Day celebrations.

They exchanged their experiences during the activities carried out around the date and wished each other success in 2023.

The Cuban ambassador attended all the activities of the official program and collaterally held meetings with politicians and other personalities.

 

Cuban Ambassador participates in events for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Wellington, January 27. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés participated today in the events for the UN International Holocaust Remembrance Day, in this city.

In the Makara Cemetery, together with the Mayor, H.W Tory Whanau, and the Member of Parliament, the Honorable Grant Robertson, attendees listened to stories and testimonies and placed stones on the monument in honor of the victims of the Holocaust.

Later, in Parliament, Robertson stressed the importance of building hate-free societies and remembering the tragedy, so it doesn't happen again.

 

Cuban diplomats exchange with the new Mayor of Wellington.

Wellington, December 3. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez attended the New Year's Eve party organized by the city's new mayor, Tory Whanau, for the Diplomatic Corps.

The event included lunch, a tour of the local Zoo, and the opportunity to share with the Mayor and other members of the City Council, to strengthen ties for joint work next year.

It was a pleasant experience for all participants.
