Cuban Ambassador attends a celebration for the Maori New Year.

Wellington, June 24. At the invitation of the Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand, and Dr. Richard Davis, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and his wife Dalila Vázquez attended a dinner at Government House to celebrate Matariki, the Maori New Year, which for the first time is an official holiday.

During the event, they talked extensively about Cuba and its health system, about which Dr. Davies has extensive knowledge.

The Ambassador expressed that the Governor-General and her husband will be very welcome in Cuba, a country that they both wish to visit.

The Mayor of Rotorua visits our Embassy.

Wellington, June 15. The mayor of the tourist city of Rotorua was received by Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez, who thanked her for her friendship and systematic support for the Cuban Festival that is held every year in that city.

H.W Steve Chadwick, who has also been Minister of Conservation and Women's Affairs, as well as Associate Minister of Health, took an interest in the Cuban health system, particularly primary care.

Cuban Ambassador participates in celebration of Europe Day.

Wellington, May 10. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the Europe Day celebration, organized by H.E Nina Obermaier, EU Ambassador to New Zealand.

The event, held at the Parliament building, was attended by local personalities and members of the Diplomatic Corps, among others.

Cuba works for a good relationship with the European Union, based on the principles and objectives established in our Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement.

The Embassy of Cuba in New Zealand resumes activities.

Temporary closure of the Embassy.

Wellington, December 15. As we had previously announced, from today until March the Cuban Embassy in New Zealand will be temporarily closed.

The Mayor of Wellington visits the Cuban Residence.

Wellington November 17. The Mayor of Wellington, H.W Andy Foster, and his wife Ann were received by the Cuban Ambassador and his wife at the Cuban Residence.

In addition to enjoying a typical Cuban dinner, they exchanged extensively about the situation in Cuba and the relationship between the City Council and the Diplomatic Corps.

The meeting was also attended by Nina Obermaier, Ambassador of the European Union, and her husband Stephan.
