Nairobi, February 24, 2022- At 127 years of the restart of Cuba’s independence war, the Embassy of Cuba in Kenya commemorates that date by recalling the verses of our Rubén Martínez Villena when about that feat and its main author, he wrote:
“There was a long break in the bloody trace;
There were reborn dreams and feverish desire
And long seventeen years revived the flame
That like in a volcano set the hearts on fire.
The call for freedom in Baire was heeded
In the golden shine the symbol came to light
And in the heat of the storm a new star glittered
A Titan’s hand showed up ready to fight.
February twenty-four; forty years of war
The blood ran through the land extending more and more
So it was time to reap the harvest of Martí
A star so pure like a child’s beloved dream
Ruby-coated climbed up like in a tree
127 years later, Cuba continues defending that glorious legacy inherited from a sacred history.
