Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach of Brazil appointed as new Executive Director of UN-Habitat
Following nomination by the United Nations Secretary-General, the General Assembly, on 7 June 2024, elected Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach of Brazil as Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), at the Under-Secretary-General level, for a term of office of four years. The date she will assume office will be announced soon.
The second Global Meeting of National Focal Points of the Montevideo Programme V meets in Kenya
Nairobi, June 3, 2024- The second Global Meeting of National Focal Points of the Fifth Montevideo Programme for the Development and Periodic Review of Environmental Law (the Montevideo Programme V), is taking place in Kenya, from 3 to 5 June, 2024.
Since 2019, Member States have designated national focal points for exchanging information and building capacities to collaborate with and guide UNEP in strengthening the Montevideo Environmental Law Programme, as well as for monitoring and evaluating its implementation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has learned, with deep concern, about the judgment delivered by a judge of the Court of the District of Columbia in the United States on May 1st, 2024, who acquitted Alexander Alazo Baró of the four charges he faced as a result of the terrorist attack he had perpetrated against the Cuban Embassy to the United States during the early hours of morning of April 30, 2020, claiming the insanity of the perpetrator.
