STATEMENT ON THE US EMBARGO AND BLOCKADE AGAINST CUBA
The Republic of Cuba, a nation whose historic contributions to global liberation, public health, and human solidarity are etched into the conscience of humanity, has been subjected to a relentless, vindictive economic blockade by the United States of America. The blockade is a sophisticated instrument of modern siege warfare. By weaponizing global finance, maritime logistics, and trade supply chains, Washington seeks to starve the Cuban economy of fuel, food, raw materials, and foreign currency. Despite Cuba’s world-renowned medical system, the blockade routinely obstructs the acquisition of life-saving medicines, specialized surgical equipment, and raw pharmaceutical ingredients.
Even during global health emergencies, hospitals have faced cruel bureaucratic hurdles to procure basic medical necessities, directly endangering vulnerable patients. The articial scarcity of fuel and replacement parts, compounded by targeted nancial sanctions has engineered severe nationwide blackouts, crippling water purication systems, public transport, and food refrigeration. Ordinary Cuban families face daily hardships not due to structural economic issues, but due to an external, asphyxiating net deliberately cast by the world’s largest superpower to provoke social despair and political destabilization.
Call to action
The Antifascist International Kenya Chapter, calls upon all freedom-loving nations, member states of the United Nations, and peoples of conscience to transform moral condemnation into concrete legislative and diplomatic action.
We urge every UN member state to cast an unequivocal vote against the embargo, demonstrating that the international order is governed by the Charter of the United Nations and the sovereign equality of nations, rather than unilateral coercion. We call on governments to resist planetary intimidation, threats, and backroom lobbying by U.S. diplomatic missions seeking to dilute or alter sovereign votes at the General Assembly.
Dismantle the embargo
Passing resolutions is vital, but ending this siege requires active, practical countermeasures by the global community: Member states and regional blocs (such as the African Union, CARICOM, and CELAC) should establish alternative, non-dollar financial clearing mechanisms and bilateral trade channels that are immune to U.S. secondary sanctions.
Member states and regional blocs (such as the African Union, CARICOM, and CELAC) should establish alternative, non-dollar financial clearing mechanisms and bilateral trade channels that are immune to U.S. secondary sanctions.
Nations should pass blocking statutes that penalize domestic corporations or banks that comply with extraterritorial U.S. sanctions against Cuba, protecting companies that choose to trade and invest on the island. Scale up direct cooperative agreements in agriculture, energy, and biotechnology.
African and Latin American nations can form joint supply chains to deliver food, fuel, and industrial goods directly to Cuban ports, neutralizing the maritime blockade. Take collective recourse through international judicial bodies to challenge the legality of extraterritorial sanctions as violations of international trade law, freedom of navigation, and fundamental human rights.
Cuba does not stand alone. From the plains of Kenya to the capitals of the Global South, the antifascist and anti-imperialist movements recognize that Cuba’s struggle is the struggle of all sovereign nations against hegemony and neo-colonialism.
We urge the United Nations General Assembly to stand tall, reject the politics of starvation, and demand the immediate, unconditional lifing of the U.S. embargo.
Let justice, solidarity, and the self-determination of peoples prevail.
Cuba must be free to trade, to heal and to decide its own future.
Lift the blockade.
In revolutionary solidarity,
Anti-Fascist International Kenya Chapter
