Havana, February 11, 2024 - The First Forum of Cuban Educators Residing Abroad, organised by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, was held today, Tuesday, in a hybrid format: face-to-face and virtual.
The event was attended by more than 100 Cubans living abroad linked to the education sector, from more than 25 countries. The interventions of the Minister of Education, Naima Ariatne Trujillo Barreto and other officials from MINED and MINREX, ratified the Cuban government's desire to deepen the links between the nation and its nationals abroad.
The meeting was a continuation of the IV Conference on the Nation and Emigration and was an opportunity to strengthen ties from the academic, research and collaboration point of view, share experiences and exchange initiatives in the field of education. It was also an opportunity to express gratitude for the donations made by nationals from various countries, with supplies and materials that contributed, to some extent, to alleviate the effects of the blockade in this sector.
The participants highlighted the universality of Cuban education and expressed their gratitude for the professional training they received in our country, as well as for the implementation of this type of initiative aimed at Cubans living abroad. They also expressed their willingness to support and cooperate with the National Education System, proposing actions ranging from the creation of a network of Cuban educators to lines of joint research between our educational institutions and those of the places where they live, as well as cooperation projects and other initiatives in this area.
