Kingston, Jamaica, 5 October 2021. Yesterday was a day of pleasant emotions for all members of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Jamaica, as they received twenty-six new colleagues who join the Cuban health professionals working in the country. With this new group, Cuba surpasses the figure of 500 workers providing unconditional help in this sister Caribbean island.
The group was made up by 22 Registered Nurses and 4 Imaging Technologists, to be deployed through the SERHA (Southeast), SRHA (South) and NERHA (Northeast) health regions. After complying with the quarantine protocol, the new members of the brigade will be allowed to take on their duties.
With the arrival of this new group, the Bilateral Agreement signed between the two countries continues to be fulfilled, honouring our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz’s statement when he said: "we share what we have, not what we have to spare."
