The 30th Anniversary of the establishement of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Australia is celebrated in Canberra

Canberra, March 1, 2019. At the headquarters of the Embassy of Cuba in Australia, a reception was organized on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In his words to the guests, the Cuban Ambassador, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of this event in the context of the history of bilateral ties, highlighting the most outstanding moments of the links between Cuba and Australia in the last three decades which were represented in an audiovisual material specially prepared for the occasion. Similarly, he referred to the will to continue working to strengthen bilateral relations, based on mutual respect and the potentialities identified in the sectors of biotechnology, the medical-pharmaceutical industry, mining, education, tourism and sports.

The activity was attended by members of the accredited diplomatic corp in Canberra, officials of the government of the capital, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Relations between Australia and Latin America (COALAR, for its acronym in English), friends of Cuba and representatives of the business sector including the President of the Business Council Australia-Latin America and the President of the Cuba-Australia Business Council.
