The 5 students from the Lao PDR who are going to study medicine at ELAM are leaving for Cuba tomorrow.

Yesterday night, August 28th, in the Cuban Embassy in this brother country, it took place a farewell activity for the 5 students of the Lao People's Democratic Republic who were beneficiaries of the scholarships granted by Cuba to study the medical profession in the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM). The students are YAYOUAKHA HOUATOUXAY, PHOUTMANY KEOMITHONG, MAIVUE KIATOU, CHEEMENGLEE BELEE and Ms. SOUDALANH KEOATSAVONG.

 

In the farewell activity, in addition to the 5 students and their families, were also, Comrade, Mdme. Sounthone Xayachack, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Chairperson of its Committee on Foreign Affairs and from the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Khuanta Phalivong, Director General of Europe and America, Mrs. Anouphone Kitirat, Deputy Director General of Press and Tengthor Saykoua, specialist in charge of Cuba. Also present were officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, members of the Board of the Lao-Cuba Friendship Association and representatives of the media.

 

Previously, in the morning hours of the same day, the 5 students had passed through the Embassy for a meeting with the objective of specifying details about the trip and their studies in Cuba and to received the documentation that they must present upon their arrival in the country. This meeting culminated in the signing by all of them of the Code of Ethics of foreign scholarship holders in Cuba.
