"The Lao People’s Democratic Republic has been closely following with grave concern over the ongoing violence in the Middle East and risk of further expanding, which has resulted in the massive loss of lives and properties of the people, threatening peace and security in the region and the world at large.

Vientiane, February 20, 2026. Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant paid a courtesy call to the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Maythong Tammavongsa. During the meeting, the diplomat updated him on the complex situation in Cuba and the impact of the energy blockade, which has intensified the economic strangulation after more than 60 years of the unjust and illegal blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
