Ambassador of Cuba paid a courtesy call to the Lao Vice minister of Foreign Affaires

Vientiane, February 20, 2026. Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant paid a courtesy call to the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, Mr. Maythong Tammavongsa. During the meeting, the diplomat updated him on the complex situation in Cuba and the impact of the energy blockade, which has intensified the economic strangulation after more than 60 years of the unjust and illegal blockade imposed by the U.S. government.

She also expressed her gratitude for Laos's solidarity and support for the Cuban resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly, which calls for an end to the economic blockade against the island.

Both sides agreed on the assessment of the current situation and steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
