Vientiane 20 de febrero de 2026. Statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR on the situation in the Republic of Cuba, 20 February 2026
The Lao PDR views that an embargo, with its extraterritorial implications, particularly unilateral coercive measures, not only hinders socio-economic development of a nation on which such embargo is being imposed, but also contravenes the principles of the UN Charter and international law and the sovereign equality of States as well as of freedom of international trade and navigation, which severely cause negative consequences to innocent people and hinder national development of many developing countries.
The Lao PDR reaffirms its support for the resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly over the years, and call for lifting the economic-commercial and finance embargo against the Republic of Cuba as well as ending all unilateral coercive measures immediately.
