The 59th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution is celebrated in Sri Lanka

SRI LANKA, December 30, 2017. - Yesterday afternoon a large group of friends were present at the Cuban Embassy to celebrate the 59th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

In his speech, the Honorable Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Science, Technology and Research of Sri Lanka and President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Cuba highlighted the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between both countries. He highlighted, among other issues, the role played by the Commander in Chief in the consolidation of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, thanked the support given by Sri Lanka to Cuba in its fight against the policy of blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba. On November 1, Sri Lanka voted once again in favor of the Cuban resolution against the blockade, in the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The activity was attended by several ministers, members of parliament, leaders of the main political parties, members of the Friendship and Graduate Associations, Cuban residents, journalists and representatives of the business sector, among others.
