Sri Lankan press covers Cuba’s reproof of US presence in Caribbean
Colombo, Aug 19 (Prensa Latina) Sri Lankan mass media highlighted the denunciation made by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez regarding the presence of US naval and air forces in the southern Caribbean.
The Colombo Times newspaper and the World Peace Company (CPM) Media Private Limited website reproduced the Cuban foreign minister’s recent social media post, in which he states that the US military deployment in the Caribbean is being carried out under false pretexts and responds to a corrupt agenda of Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Colombo, August 11, 2025. The Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, was received at Parliament by the Honorable Leader of the House of Parliament and Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, and the Honorable Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, President of the Sri Lanka-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Association for the Tenth Legislature.
Call for leftist events in Cuba released in Sri Lanka
Colombo, August 6.- The Sri Lankan newspapers Lanka Leader and Colombo Times today announced Cuba's invitation to participate in an international festival to address the multiple challenges facing peace and social justice.
Organized by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC, for its acronym in Spanish) in collaboration with its Young Communist Union, the event is titled the Granma Rebelde International Festival and will take place from October 17 to 20 of this year in Havana.
