Cuban Ambassador Received Sri Lankan Political Leader
Colombo, June 18, 2025. Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, held a meeting at the Cuban Embassy in Colombo with G.V. D. Tilakasiri, President of the Democratic Left Front party and Secretary General of the Joint Committee of Democratic Trade Unions of Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Tilakasiri reiterated his solidarity with Cuba and discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest.

Colombo, June 17, 2025. The Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, received the President of the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE SL), Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa, and Shiham Marikar, Secretary General and CEO of NCE SL, as well as other members.
Cuban Ambassador Received Leaders of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka
Colombo, June 17, 2025. The Cuban ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, met with Dr. G. Weerasinghe, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka (CPSL). The communist leader was accompanied by Wilfred Jayasinghe, member of the CPSL Central Committee and in charge of International Relations.
During the meeting, topics of mutual interest were discussed, including solidarity with Cuba, and an invitation was presented to the ambassador to participate in an event commemorating the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the CPSL, to be celebrated in July.

The Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development of Sri Lanka, Honorable Wasantha Samarasinghe, received Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, Cuban Ambassador, who delivered him a letter of invitation from the Cuban Minister of External Trade and Foreign Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, to participate in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), which will take place from November 24 to 29 at the EXPOCUBA Fairgrounds.

The Cuban Government observes with extreme concern the events taking place in the Middle East and strongly condemns the attacks perpetrated by Israel in the early hours of morning on June 13, 2025 and the threat of war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, in flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and International Law, including the principles of sovereignty and the no threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of any State.
