BANGKOK, January 29, 2019.- Organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Thailand, the commemorative event on the 60th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 166th Anniversary of the birth of José Martí took place in Bangkok.
The event was chaired by His Excellency Chirayú Isarangkún Na Ayúthayá, Advisor to His Majesty King Rama X; Dr. Ittipórn Boonpracóng, President of the Electoral Commission; General Surapong Suwána-ádth, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Legislative Assembly and Chairman of the Thailand-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Cuban Ambassador to Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida. Present also directors and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heads of International Organizations, Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, Cuban residents, as well as representatives of institutions, companies and Thai counterparts in cooperation projects.
The ceremony paid an emotional tribute to the work of the Cuban Revolution, its principles of anti-imperialism, solidarity and internationalism and honored the validity of the thought and historical legacy of the Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz and of the Cuban Apostle José Martí. The commemoration made it possible to highlight the Constitutional Reform process in the Greater Antilles, the extraordinary work of 50,000 Cuban internationalist doctors in 67 countries around the world and the heroic resistance of the Cuban people against the illegal 60-years-old economic, commercial and financial blockade of successive US administrations against Cuba.
The Ambassador of Cuba congratulated the peoples and governments of Thailand and Cuba on the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations, marked on May 15th, 2018, and proudly anticipated the 500th Anniversary of the founding of the Villa de San Cristóbal de la Habana. The Cuban diplomat praised the actions of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields of activity for the benefit of both Peoples.
