Stockholm, April 19.- On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Playa Girón Victory, supportive friends and Cuban residents met at the Casa de la Solidaridad to commemorate together one of the most relevant events in the history of Cuba.
Yohanna Cordero, II Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, highlighted the courage and strength of the Cuban people, the main protagonist of those events and who, guided by Fidel, defeated the enemy in less than 72 hours.
The activity included the screening of the documentary 66 Hours “The Story of Playa Girón,” a Mundo Latino production, directed by Otto Miguel Guzmán, which narrates all the details of the background and development of the invasion organized by the CIA in 1961.
The material was presented by Henrik González, a Cuban resident in Sweden, who with great eloquence and mastery of the subject highlighted the brilliance with which our Commander Fidel Castro led the military forces in charge of repelling the invasion and achieving victory.
The occasion was conducive to remembering and honoring all those who gave their lives to defend national sovereignty, as well as to reaffirm the commitment to the same ideals of anti-imperialism and independence that promoted the victory of that April 19, 1961.
