The 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and Indonesia, the 66th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the Birth of National Hero José Martí were celebrated in Indonesia.

Jakarta, January 22, 2025. The Cuban Embassy held a reception at the Sky Priority Ballroom of the Aston Priority Simatupang Hotel to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and Indonesia, the 66th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution and the Birth of National Hero José Martí. The Director General of the Ministry of Transmigration, Velix Vernando Wanggai, participated in the reception as a guest of honor. The Minister of Transmigration was represented by Mr. Iftitah Sulaiman, Dr. Ahmad Basarah, Member of the House of Representatives, Gasto Kristiyanto, Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle, Connie Rahakundini, Ambassador of Russian Education and Science from St. Petersburg State University, John Flood, Executive Director of Archipelago International, Directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vice-Presidents of the Committee on Interparliamentary Cooperation of the House of Representatives, Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps. The Cuban Ambassador to Indonesia, Dagmar González Grau, expressed in her speech her gratitude for the firm position of the Government of Indonesia in rejecting the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States and the additional measures, such as the inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism, based on inconsistent arguments and without adequate evidence. The reception included a photographic exhibition of Che Guevara's visit to Indonesia in 1959 and Sukarno's visit to Cuba in 1960. Images and film material of the most important moments in the 65 years of bilateral relations were projected, as well as the emotional short film "My Brother Fidel", which links the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, with José Martí. The event was attended by Javier Rodriguez, a Cuban cigar roller, and by stands of companies present in Indonesia that distribute and market Cuban products, such as tobacco, Havana Club Rum and biotechnological products. Visitors were able to taste Cuban food and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the island, its music and dances.
