Oslo, January 25, 2023. The 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated in this city with a political and cultural event, organized by the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association (Cubaforeningen i Norge).
Members of the Friendship Association and the Norwegian Communist Party (NKP); diplomats from the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; fellow nationals and other Latin Americans living in this country, and friends in general, responded positively to the call.
The ambassador of Cuba, Maité Rivero Torres, dedicated her speech to sharing with those present fragments of the transcendental speeches given by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Revolution, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the commemorative event for the anniversary held in the city of Santiago de Cuba, on January 1st.
Cihan Karakoc, president of the Friendship Association, and Ramón Gordils, ambassador of Venezuela to Norway, delivered heartfelt words of greeting and congratulations to the Cuban government and people, as well as of recognition of the work of the Revolution in these 65 years.
After the screening of an audiovisual material narrated by the Afro-American doctor Samira M. Addrey, a graduate of Cuba´s Latin American School of Medicine, the presentation made by the Norwegian doctor Mons Lie was very interesting. He highlighted the development of the Cuban health system since 1959, which constitutes, without any doubt, one of the main achievements of the Revolution. He also underlined Cuba´s commitment to peace, as well as its internationalist and solidarity essence.
The evening concluded with a cultural segment in which Latin American music was the main protagonist. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
