66th Anniversary of the Revolution

Copenhagen, March 15: The Cuban Embassy in Denmark, together with the Danish-Cuban Friendship Association, organized an evening to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, held at the headquarters of the 3F Trade Union.

Members of the Latin American diplomatic corps, the Solidarity Association, representatives of trade unions and leftist political forces, as well as representatives of Cuban residents attended the event.

In her remarks to the guests, Ambassador Ana Maria Chongo highlighted the impact of the Revolution on the inhabitants of the largest of the Antilles and the progress that this process, which materialized on January 1, 1959, represented in areas such as health, education, sports, and culture.

She recalled the words of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, when he said upon his victorious entry into the Cuban capital, and I quote: "The joy is immense, and yet, much remains to be done." Let us not fool ourselves into believing that everything will be easy from now on; perhaps everything will be more difficult.

The Cuban ambassador noted that life has proven her right, recalling that the road traveled has not been easy, as we have had to face the constant and perverse aggression of the enemy, which has even resorted to military invasion, terrorism, and a ruthless and cruel blockade, condemned by the overwhelming majority of the world's nations.

The event served as a stage to announce a considerable donation from the solidarity association and political forces for the purchase of medicines in short supply in Cuba.

The occasion was a propitious opportunity to invite those present to actively participate in the preparation and celebration of the next Nordic countries' solidarity event, to be held in Copenhagen on October 3-5 of this year.
