Namibia, August 10th, 2019 - In Windhoek, capital of this African country, a tribute was made to Commandant in Chief Fidel Castro, on the 93rd anniversary of his birth. The act was celebrated after a march for world peace and in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela, as well as in favor of other just causes around the world.
Both events were held within the framework of the annual meeting of the Women´s International Democratic Federation (WIDF), which takes place in this city between August 9th and 12th.
Around a hundred people moved to Fidel Castro Street, to pay tribute to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.
Among those present were SWAPO leaders, Cuban collaborators, members of the Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, delegates to the WIDF event and other members of Namibian civil society. All reaffirmed their commitment to the legacy of the Commandant in Chief and their solidarity with Cuba, Venezuela and the rest of the just causes of the world.
As a tribute to Fidel, the notes of the Cuban National Anthem were intoned, while two Namibian children deposited a wreath, with the colors of the rank of Commandant in Chief, at the base of the road sign that marks the beginning of Fidel Castro Street.
During this same day a cultural political event was held, where the president of the WIDF, Lorena Peña, demanded the end of the imperialist aggressions against Cuba and Venezuela, as well as the freedom and self-determination of the Palestinian and Saharawi peoples. In the same terms spoke the delegates of Cuba, Lebanon, Vietnam, Greece and Namibia, representing their respective regions.
