On August 13, more than 30 Turkish citizens joined the Cuban Embassy in a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, organized at the Nâzım Hikmet Cultural Center in Ankara by the "José Martí" Cuba Friendship Association and the Cuban Embassy, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary's birth.
During the meeting, Yasin ÇALIŞ, representative of the Solidarity Association and the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy, Luis Javier Cabañas Álvarez, reminded the audience of unforgettable moments of the life, thought and work of the leader of the Cuban Revolution and the transcendence of his historical legacy.
The Cuban diplomat emphasized that, despite his physical disappearance, Fidel's legacy and revolutionary spirit and resistance continue to guide the Cuban people in their struggle against the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade, which causes hardship to the Cuban people and affects their economic and social development.
He added that his ideas and thoughts are an effective weapon against the aggressions of the enemies of the Revolution who try to instigate hatred and violence, promote and finance discrediting campaigns, with lies and distortions with the sole objective of overthrowing the Cuban Revolution.
Cabañas ratified that the Cuban people will continue their struggle, sure of victory and thanked the support of many friends in the world, who like Cubans admire the beloved Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, particularly the friends of Türkiye and the Cuba-Türkiye Friendship Association for accompanying the Cubans in the struggle against disinformation, against the blockade, against the sanctions and against the aggressions of U.S. imperialism.
