ACR "Martyrs of Barbados" rejects provocations against Cuba at the Summit of the Americas

The Association of Cuban Residents "Martyrs of Barbados", from the city of Bridgetown, Barbados, observing the extraordinary confluence of the social movements and the anti-imperialist mobilization of the peoples of "Our America" during the People's Summit held on April the 10th, 11th and 12th, as an alternative event to the now infamous VIII Summit of the Americas that takes place on April 13th and 14th in Lima, Peru, inspired by the Latin American and Caribbean sentiment, reflected in the Martí and Bolivarian integrationist thinking, we add to the support for the broad and genuine representation of Cuban civil society in that forum and we declare:

First: Ratify the infinite love and respect towards Cuba, our homeland, the renewed commitment to cultivate the values of our identity as a nation, and the unshakeable commitment to defend, wherever we are, the achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

Second: Solidarize ourselves with the magnificent decision made to send to Peru that large representation of our people, grouped in more than 2 thousand civil organizations, which shows the strength of a socialist, sovereign, independent society, in constant transformation of its social system and its democracy, and that can not be silenced and much less represented by paid mercenaries in the service of the darkest imperial interests.

Third: Reject the vile provocations from the north that the enemies of Cuba, Venezuela and all the progressive countries of the region want to implement, which once again have crashed against the morals of a worthy people, that of the true sons of Marti , especially its women and young people who have once again put the name of the country well up. And next to them we say from this corner of the Caribbean: With Cuba do not get involved; Cuba is respected! "

Fourth: Patenting, together with the thousands of voices of our Cuban, Latino and Caribbean brothers, the rejection of the neoliberal model responsible for so much poverty on the Continent and the attempt to resurrect the nefarious Monroe Doctrine, which again tries to separate us, but that for the third time in these Summits it has been unable to impose the vision of the empire, nor to mobilize and represent the authentic interests of the peoples;

Fifth: As Cubans devoted to peaceful coexistence, peace, cooperation among the peoples and governments of "Our America" for sustainable development, we know that this Summit of the Americas has already become another failure, including before concluding; the voice of the peoples has silenced the OAS. The firm protest of the Cuban delegation before the antidemocratic measures tried to curtail their full participation frustrated the false dialogue that the OAS tried to impose, including stateless persons and terrorists.

Sixth: We emphasize how the truth was imposed and our peoples have shown that they are not alone and that they are capable of supporting each other; you can not walk with double standards when talking about democracy, dialogue, participation. The OAS chose the issue of corruption and governance to isolate Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia and the progressive countries; however, the corrupt right in power that wants to continue acting as the Ministry of the Colonies, was not able to show a clean face. You just have to look at what is happening in the host country of this Summit and its closest neighbors. The absence of dozens of leaders is the best example of its loss of prestige and lack of decorum.

Seventh: In this context, our Association is proud to be part of this heroic, dignified, independent and supportive people, which is an example of a struggle of stoic resistance against the blockade and foreign intervention in all its forms, and which advocates true integration. That is why we recognize the importance of mechanisms that seek such real integration, such as CELAC, CARICOM, ALBA-TCP and its Petrocaribe project.

Eighth: Finally, we reiterate that oriented to achieve these purposes, it is necessary that before the plans of the imperial power centers to continue with their policy of regime change, the harassment, the internal subversion, the economic war and the constant threat of military intervention, respect the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, agreed at the II Summit of CELAC, held in Havana, in January 2014.
