Act held at the National Museum of Civilization

The Cuban Ambassador in Egypt, Tania Aguiar Fernández, participated in the act held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to exhibit the sarcophagus of Nedjemankh priest in his recent repatriation to Egypt.

The relic is thought to have been stolen from the country in 1971 and was in the US and after proving the falsification of the purchase and sale documents was returned to its place of origin.
Khaled El Enany, Minister of Antiquities, described the piece as a common human heritage and expressed satisfaction with his return to Cairo. The repatriation of this piece is a new achievement in the struggle of the countries against the illicit traffic of historical works.
