NIGERIA, August 29, 2019. An act of solidarity with Cuba was held, within the framework of the activities scheduled for the celebration in Nigeria of the VI Continental Meeting of Solidarity with our country and reminder of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.
It took place in the Theater of the Faculty of Management Sciences and more than 200 people attended, including students, teachers and other guests.
He was chaired by the Rector of the University (Vice Chancellor), the President of the Association of University Students of Nigeria, the former president and founder of the NLC (largest union federation of Nigeria), deans of faculties and the coordinator of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba in the country.
Also in the presidency were the Ambassadors of Cuba and Venezuela.
It was a very emotional activity, in which all the speakers, without exception, recalled Cuba's contribution to the liberation and maintenance of the independence of the African peoples, particularly the blood watered by their children in the lands of this continent and the help disinterested that tens of thousands of Cuban civilian collaborators have lent to their peoples, risking their own lives for the sacred principle of solidarity and internationalism, something that has distinguished Cuba from the rest of the countries of the world. Particular attention was devoted to medical assistance, the battle against Ebola and the training of doctors and other specialists in our country.
They emphasized the rejection of the US blockade against Cuba and the growing aggressiveness of the Trump administration against Cuba and Venezuela.
Several of the speakers expressed that it was necessary to study and learn about the history of the Cuban revolution, Fidel's feat at the helm of his people and the meaning that this resistance that has lasted for 60 years has had for the peoples of the world and for Africa in particular .
In conclusion, a statement was adopted unanimously.
