Ankara, Turkey, 26th May. During the main celebration for the Africa Day in Turkey, held on the eve, the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Thomas Kwesi Quartey, who came for the occasion, had a warm exchange with the Cuban ambassador in the Eurasian country, Luis Amorós Núñez.
In a more relaxed meeting held before with the Antillean diplomat, the African leader recalled his visit to Cuba last month, and especially the tribute he paid to the Commander in Chief of the Revolution, where he rests eternally. He highlighted how much Fidel and Cuba had done for Africa. He also highlighted his meetings with Cuban leaders during this journey and on other occasions. For his part, the Cuban representative underlined the close ties between Cuba and Africa, which would continue to be expanded.
During the week, the Cuban ambassador also participated in a great sports activity organized to mark the 55th anniversary of the creation of the Organization of African Unity and 17th of the African Union. He was once again a special guest of his fellow African Ambassadors. Likewise, the Cuban diplomat organized a dinner of the Latin American and Caribbean Group's ambassadors to the main representatives of the African Diplomatic Corps in Turkey, in which it was agreed to expand collaboration and joint activities between the regional groups of both continents.
