Cairo, February 16, 2026. The Al-WAFD Party of Egypt sent a letter to the Cuban Ambassador, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, expressing its solidarity with the island and condemning any unilateral measures that affect the sovereignty of states and the rights of peoples.
In the letter, the Party's Foreign Relations Committee expressed its full solidarity with the call to defend peace and respect for international law, and its absolute rejection of any violation of international law, international treaties and norms, as well as interference in the internal affairs of states. The Committee emphasized the need to preserve the unity, territorial integrity, and independence of all countries.
The Committee also emphasized that the path to ending disputes must be negotiation, and that peace and mutual respect between nations constitute the optimal solution. Therefore, it is imperative to move away from violence and war.
The letter was signed by Hassan Saeed Badrawi, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Al WAFD Party.
The WAFD Party is a liberal nationalist party and is considered the third largest political force in the country in terms of the number of seats in Parliament (26). It is the contemporary successor to one of Egypt's oldest and historically most active political parties, the Wafd Party, which was dissolved after the 1952 Revolution. The New Wafd Party was re-established in 1983. (EmbaCuba Egipto)
