Aleida Guevara March holds a fraternal meeting with friends of solidarity with Cuba.

Dublin November 15, 2018. Representatives of solidarity organizations with Cuba, trade unions, political organizations and friends in general held a fraternal meeting at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy with Aleida Guevara March.

Ambassador Hugo René Ramos Milanés, welcoming those present, expressed that Alieda was making her third visit to Ireland, this time as a special guest of the Organizing Committee of the First International Conference against the military bases of the United States and NATO and attendig this event is also the companion Silvio Platero, president of the Cuban Movement for Peace and the Sovereignty of the Peoples.

Ramos Milanes indicated that Aleida would develop other activities that have been prepared with the commitment of Cuba Support Group and that would include a visit to the city of Derry in Northern Ireland.

Responding to questions of solidarity friends Aleida said that the first two priorities for Cuba's international work are determined by the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against Cuba and achieve the return of the territory that illegally occupies the Yankee military base installed in Guantánamo.

The situation of the progressive and popular processes in Latin America and the Caribbean, the aggressiveness of the North American policy and its alliance with the regional oligarchies to defeat them were also a matter of exchange. Faced with this aggressiveness, Aelida called for the necessary respect for the peoples of our region, its movements and political and social organizations, its leaders. Alerted on the urgent need to internationalize solidarity and work to spread the truth of what is really happening in Venezuela, submitted over several years to an enormous aggression and destabilization promoted and financed from abroad, as has been happening since more recent date against Nicaragua, as has happened so many times against President Evo Morales and the movement he leads.

Aleida made it known that the Cuban people, including their youngest generation, continue to stand firm and decide to defend the gains of Cuba revolution, that the blockade will not be able to stop our efforts to achieve greater well-being for our people, nor will we renounce solidarity with our Latin American and Caribbean brothers and sisters. How we will continue to accompany all just causes and the global aspiration that a better world is possible.
