Aleida Guevara March visited the Municipality of Haidari

On October 15, Aleida Guevara visited the Municipality of Haidari and was received at the City Hall by the Mayor of Haidari Michalis Selekos and members of the Municipal Authority. A meeting was then held at the Municipal Council. There, Mayor Mr. Selekos referred to the example that the life and struggle of Che Guevara still constitutes today. He said that Che “was not only a great revolutionary but a personality who wrote history in the 20th century.” He also said that Cuba, the “Island of the Revolution,” is in the hearts of people who fight to change society, as Che, Fidel, Camilo Cienfuegos and others did, and that it is important to see how the Greek people show their great solidarity towards the island. The Cuban ambassador, Aramis Fuentes, thanked the warm welcome and conveyed warm greetings from the Cuban people. Aleida spoke about her father, how strong his sense of justice was and why his ideology and struggle are current and necessary and are still in the present. She pointed out that the Cuban people are fighting a battle in very difficult conditions, under a criminal economic and commercial blockade imposed by the US and emphasized the importance that Cuba gives to health, education and solidarity. She answered various questions from the audience At the end, Velissarios Kossyvakis, editor of the book "Ernesto Che Guevara, Family Album", reported that this is the first of the Complete Works of Che Guevara, since the objective is to publish a total of 10 books, in collaboration with the Che Guevara Studies Center. Greece is the first country in which the album is released.
