The terrorist attack at the Cuban Embassy in the U.S. September 24, 2023, is but another example of U.S. imperialism’s political and economic war against the Cuban people and their noble efforts to build a socialist society. World history is clear that U.S. imperialism is the leading financier and purveyor of terrorism and violence in the world today. Although mandated by international law and to “protect the premises of the mission against intrusion or damage and to avoid disturbing the tranquillity of the mission or violating its dignity”[i], U.S. imperialism permits terrorist acts against the Cuban Embassy and staff. It is our view that the U.S. government, being the dominant imperialist capitalist country in the world today, sees itself as being unbound by international law, and therefore acts as an international bully and pariah nation at war with those who have chosen the path of national sovereignty and scientific socialism, in which Cuba leads.
U.S. imperialism repeatedly commits acts of terrorism against the Cuban people, on Cuban territory, in violation of international law, and the dignity and well-being of the Cuban people. As in the case of the Bay of Pigs invasion, it is to this day a terrorist nation with its illegal and immoral military occupation of Cuba at Guantanamo Bay. Even under these indignities we see Cuba defending and advancing the Cuban Revolution, particularly its internationalism, impacting the poorest of the poor worldwide and we are in uncompromising solidarity to this day to Cuba’s socialist path.
In condemning these terrorist acts against Cuba, we also highlight U.S. imperialism’s more than 61-year economic blockade and sanctions as acts of terrorism against the Cuban people. At the same time, we remember the declaration of Fidel Castro who made it clear that “While trade with the United States might perhaps mean certain advantages and a faster rate of development, we prefer to move less rapidly but with our heads high and the flag of dignity unfurled.”[ii] The terrorist acts of the blockade and sanctions against the Cuban people denies them of basic health and other human needs.
We condemn as acts of terror against the Cuban people:
the U.S. Bay of Pigs invasion.
the U.S. occupation of Guantanamo.
the U.S. imposed economic sanctions.
the U.S. imposed embargos & military blockades on Cuban trade.
the U.S. supported bombings of Cuban hotels.
the U.S. supported attacks on Cuban airliners.
the U.S. supported attacks on the Cuban embassy.
the U.S. false allegations of Cuban government support of terrorism.
the U.S. false arrest and illegal incarceration of Cuban diplomats.
the U.S. restrictions on inter-state travel, remittances, cultural, educational exchanges.
All these acts of terror represent the foreign and domestic policy of U.S. imperialism towards Cuba.
We reaffirm our support and solidarity with the people and government of Cuba.
