All Cubans entering the country from April 2025 must do so with a valid passport

As of April 1, 2025, all Cubans entering the island must do so with their valid passport, after the extension ordered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expires.

Ana Teresita González Fraga, general director of Consular Affairs and Assistance to Cubans Residing Abroad (Daccre), reported that, following the situations generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government ordered that Cuban citizens residing in the national territory who were abroad could return to the country without having to renew their passport.

This exceptional and temporary measure – she stressed – was taken precisely to be able to protect compatriots in the midst of the pandemic.

She added that, after the normalization of international flights and the operation of consular offices abroad, it was decided to establish March 31, 2025 as the deadline for entry into the country with an expired passport.

He noted that the consular offices are fully prepared and capable of providing the services with the speed required so that all Cubans traveling to the country can do so with a valid passport, starting April 1, 2025.
