On July 11, one year of the triumph of the Cuban people over the soft coup attempt encouraged by the internal counterrevolution and the US government to overthrow the Cuban Revolution was commemorated.
One year after the resounding victory of the Cuban people over lies, immense shows of solidarity and encouragement to Cuba were added in all parts of the world. Also from several Swedish cities, friends of solidarity and Cuban residents raised their voices to speak out on the matter.
A representation of Cubans for Cuba, the Organization of Cubans residing in Sweden, met to express their support and love for the island and the Cuban Revolution in a statement by its board of directors in which they stated:
“Our compatriots, those who are not able to recognize what the Revolution gave them, those who want a change against the majority, those who have no scruples to ask for more blockade and even invasion, want to highlight the events of July 11 with much pomp. And they do it supported by the Swedish right, but also the European.”
They also recalled that “…the Revolution as a political process as an alternative for the future is still standing, as valid as when the socialist character of the Revolution was declared. Why? Because the people decide so. Most Cubans have opted for that option…”
In other parts of the country, voices were raised in support of Cuba. Friends of the Järfälla Commune gathered and raised banners in support of the Revolution and July 26 flags; directors of the Swedish-Cuban Friendship Association on behalf of their membership, posted videos in support of the Revolution on the networks, and other friends and Cuban residents dedicated time during the weekend to continue collecting medical supplies and other useful items, to send in a solidarity container to Cuba.
Despite the empire's machinery of lies against the Cuban Revolution, our country continues to have the support of thousands of friends around the world and with the premise that whoever tries to take over Cuba will collect the dust of his ground drenched in blood.
