Ambassador Alejandro Simancas Marín and Coordinator of the Henry Reeve Brigade, Dr. José Luis Lopez appeared on Choice TV; where they explained the work of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Lucia and dismantled the lies that the United States Government intends to inoculate about Cuban cooperation in the medical sector. They explained that the principles of humanism and international solidarity which have characterized the Cuban Revolution and which have prompted more than 400,000 health professionals to help in more than 150 countries throughout the world for over sixty years. They stressed that these are the same values and principles that characterize our doctors, nurses and health technicians today when they step forward voluntarily to assist other countries, as Saint Lucia has been. That is why they reaffirmed that everything the United States Government intends to portray about Cuban medical cooperation is manipulated politically in accordance with its interests of domination and hegemony. He stressed that these actions are illegitimate, unilateral, without legal authority and much less moral. They affirmed that Cuba has taken exemplary action against human trafficking and highlighted the work of enormous humanism and South-South cooperation that has signified Cuba’s medical collaboration, and in particular the work of the Henry Reeve Brigades in the fight against Covid-19 and which is presently assisting in thirty countries, including Saint Lucia and the other Caribbean nations. Both the Ambassador and Dr. Lopez finally thanked the Government of Saint Lucia and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States for their support in rejecting Washington’s actions.
