In two successive ceremonies, Mrs. Donna Forde, until the date Chargé d'Affaires of Barbados in Cuba, was accredited in the rank of Ambassador. First, she presented the Style Copies to Vice Chancellor Ana Teresita González and later presented the Letter of Credentials to the Vice President of the State Council, Gladys Bejerano. The decision of the Barbadian government was taken and communicated by its chancellery to its Cuban counterpart at the end of 2017, within the framework of the celebrations of the 45th Anniversary of the bilateral Diplomatic Relations, as another example of the will of both countries to consolidate the historic friendship ties cultivated. With this action, an important cycle is also closed since the fourteen member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), whose 45 years of relationships were also commemorated on December 8, are now represented at the level of Ambassadors in Havana .
