NASSAU, March 21st, 2018. - The Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, attended as a special guest the radio program "Let's Talk Live", from the Bahamian radio station of Radio Guardian 96.9, conducted by the journalist Carlton Smith
During the interview, the diplomat emphasized that the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba violates the right of the Cuban nation to the development of its economy. She highlighted how in spite of the blockade and the different adverse situations that the Caribbean nation faced in 2017, different strategies were drawn up, which allowed the Cuban economy to grow by 1.6% last year.
She called the attention on the necessity to continue introducing the Cuban resolution against the blockade in the General Assembly of the United Nations and she expressed thanks to the Bahamian government for its support to Cuba for years in this scenario.
The Ambassador drew the attention to the setback in the bilateral relations between Cuba and the US since the announcements made by President Donald Trump and Cuba's position to maintain a civilized dialogue with the US government based on the respect for Cuban sovereignty and without interference in Cuba’s internal affairs.
