Kingston, 30 April 2026. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Tania López Larroque, was received on a courtesy visit by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, the Honourable Pearnel Charles Jr. In a cordial atmosphere, the two officials reviewed the history of relations between the two countries in various fields. Also present were the Minister of State, the Honourable Donovan St. L William, and the Permanent Secretary, Dione Jenning, among other senior officials from the ministry.
The Cuban diplomat provided an update on Cuba’s progress in protecting workers’ rights, whilst denouncing the disastrous effects of the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the Government of the United States of America on the development plans of the Largest of the Antilles.
Both parties recognised the potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of labour and social security.
