The Ambassador of Cuba in the Kingdom of Denmark, Roger López García, held a meeting with the mayor of Helsingor, Benedikte Kiaer, when the "Shakespeare Festival 2022" was taking place at the foot of Kronborg Castle, prior to the presentation of the work: "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, which was attended by authorities and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
At the meeting, the Cuban diplomat referred to the study of the work, of which is considered the most important writer in the English language, in the middle and higher education system in Cuba, in artistic education, in addition to the interest of his works that have been exhibited in theater, television or cinema. For her part, the representative of the Danish city, north of the Island of Sjaelland, recognized the quality of the Cuban educational system, and the recognition that Cuba enjoys in this field.
Kronborg Castle is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Northern Europe, to which the English writer Willian Shakespeare gave world fame when he decided to use it as the setting for his play Hamlet. It was built in 1585. Over the years, it became a defensive point and has played a very important role in Danish history. Today it is one of the Danish monuments declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
