Nairobi, 26 September. Professor Peter M.F. Mbithi, the highest authority of the University of Nairobi, received the Cuban ambassador in Kenya, Ernesto Gomez Díaz, at the headquarters of that house of high studies, who paid him a courtesy call today.
During the fraternal meeting, both sides addressed the potential for developing bilateral cooperation in the areas of teaching and scientific research, especially in the fight against malaria and human resource formation, among many other fields.
The Cuban diplomat explained the damage suffered by his country in the wake of Hurricane Irma and the island's efforts to recover in the shortest possible time, which is hampered by the permanence of the blockade imposed by the United States.
The University of Nairobi is the largest of its kind in Kenya and one of the main educational centers in Africa. Its current enrollment exceeds 36 thousand students.
