Ambassador of Cuba makes a work visit to the University of Limerick.

Limerick, December 2018.  The Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, Hugo René Ramos Milanés made a working visit to the University of Limerick in which he held a meeting with his President Dr. Des Fitzgerald. The University of Limerick, despite being relatively young (it was founded in 1972) is one of the most prestigious Irish universities, it was recognized in 2017 as the best University and stands out for the quality of its postgraduate training, its active participation in scientific research and links with important companies.

The Cuban Ambassador thanked the University for its contribution to the postgraduate training of Cuban professors, especially in the area of ​​tourism, in which a dozen Cuban professionals have completed master studies, while a group of students of that specialty travel annually to Cuba as part of its study program. It was expressed the interest to reinforce this collaboration in the area of ​​tourism, but at the same time explore new alternatives essentially in medicine and scientific research.

The Cuban diplomat also had the opportunity to meet with Professor James Deegan, head of the Department of Tourism and the main promoter of interuniversity collaboration in this field. He also exchanged with Cuban professor Antonio Rivero González who is studying for a master degree in Limerick.
