Ambassador of Cuba meets Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana

The Ambassador of Cuba in Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, visited the headquarters of the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana (FDA), where he was received by Mrs. Delese Mimi Darko, its Chief Executive Director.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the historical nature of Cuba-Ghana relations and the interest shown by both parties in strengthening bilateral economic ties as a result of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's visit to Cuba in April 2019. He also conveyed the interest of the Center for the State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED) of Cuba to establish mutually beneficial links.

Mrs. Darko, after thanking the Cuban Ambassador for his visit, referred to the mandate of the FDA, an entity created in 1992 to contribute to the preservation of the health of the Ghanaian population. She also raised the willingness to establish formal links with CECMED once the corresponding actions are executed.

Two Ghanaian entrepreneurs, Mrs. Mercy Mintah-Gyampoh, founder of the Trive Resources Ltd, also participated in the interview; her husband, Mr. Alfred Mintah Gyampoh, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba, Julio César Sánchez. The CEO of the FDA was accompanied by the legal advisor of that institution, Mrs. Cynthia Dapaad-Ntow.
