Ambassador of Cuba met with Former Prime Minister of Malaysia

Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad and Florentino Batista González

The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, met this Monday, April 22, with His Excellency Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia and a prominent figure in the politics of the Asian country.

The Malaysian leader received the ambassador to discuss the exchange of correspondence that occurred between Dr. Tun Mahathir and the president of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

A couple of months ago Mahathir bin Mohamad had sent a letter to the Cuban president asking for support for the Palestinian cause, to which the president of the Caribbean Island responded with a warm letter in which he informed the Malaysian politician about the actions that Cuba has undertaken and continues to develop in defense of our brothers in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian people in general.

The Cuban ambassador personally delivered the letter to Tun Mahathir, while having the opportunity to debate with him about Israel's genocidal policy against the Palestinian people and the outrageous support of some governments for the attackers.

During the meeting, which took place in the politician's office, located in Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia, Florentino Batista also conveyed to the Malaysian political leader the admiration of the people and the government of Cuba.
