On this 50th anniversary, we remember the milestones of relations between Cuba and Malaysia, whose foundations have been formed from respect and friendship.

Cuba opened its embassy in Kuala Lumpur on 1997, while Malaysia opened its representation in Havana in February 2001.

The Cuban ambassador concurrent to the Philippines, Florentino Batista González, held a meeting with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of that country, HE Enrique Manalo.

During the meeting, which served to bid farewell to the Cuban ambassador who is about to conclude his mission, they had the opportunity to discuss issues of interest to both countries such as cooperation in health, education and agriculture, among others.

The Cuban ambassador concurrent to the Philippines, Florentino Batista González, met in Manila with the Secretary of the Department of Health of the Asian nation, HE Teodoro Herbosa.

During the courtesy visit of the Cuban diplomat, topics of interest to both countries were discussed, especially those related to cooperation in health issues and to promoting projects in this sector, both bilaterally and regionally.

This visit was also useful to reiterate the common objectives of both nations in issues related to biotechnology and the development of medicines and vaccines.

The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, visited the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, an institution of excellence in charge of intensive research and development based on biotechnology on the biological resources of this Malaysian state located on the island of Borneo.
The visit included tours of the different facilities and laboratories, meetings with the institution's specialists and a courtesy visit to YBhg Dato Dr Yeo Tiong Chia, Executive Director of the centre and Secretary of the Sarawak Biodiversity Council.

First Edition of Latin American Film Festival Inaugurated in Kuching, Sarawak

The inauguration of the first edition of the Latin American Film Festival in Kuching, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, took place this weekend.
The opening remarks of the event were made by the Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, who expressed the satisfaction of the members of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Embassies in Malaysia (GRULAC) for this milestone.
